Unemployment rates fall in 108 Kentucky counties

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Unemployment rates fell in 108 of Kentucky’s 120 counties between September 2011 and September 201, while rates increased in 12 counties, a new report finds.

The jobless rate in Northern Kentucky stood at 7.1 percent in September 2012, down from the 8.5 percent rate recorded in September 2011, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

Boone County notched the lowest unemployment rate in the region at 6.6 percent in September 2012; Carroll County posted the worst rate at 8.5 percent for the same month.

Among all the counties, Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 5.3 percent. Fulton County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 16.7 percent in September 2012.
