CINCINNATI - Construction will resume on the Horseshoe Casino by the end of the week after a collapse Friday injured 13 construction workers, city officials said at a meeting Tuesday.

Cincinnati Building Inspectors met with members of City Council’s Sub-Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure at 10:30 a.m. to discuss the site construction and ongoing safety inspections.

While construction can’t resume until all safety inspections are complete, crews will be back to work on the parking garage, which is not in the same area where the collapse happened, said Amit Ghosh of the Cincinnati Planning Division. Ghosh did not give a specific day when construction would resume.

The job site for the $400 million project was shut down Friday after a structural collapse injured 13 employees of Jostin Concrete Construction, Inc.

One worker remains in serious condition at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery.

Also, the collapse will change the construction process and the types of connections workers are allowed to walk over, Ghosh said.

Constructional engineers are working to supply the city with proof of a thorough inspection at the construction site and show that everything is safe, Ghosh said.
