Missing elderly man with signs of memory loss found safe in Louisville

CINCINNATI - An elderly man who has displayed signs of memory loss was found Monday after he went missing from a local senior living community for more than 24 hours.

Wendell Cowdrey, 85, was found safe in Louisville, Ky., Monday evening, police say.

Cowdrey's family says police were able to track him down through his credit card activity. Once Cowdry was located, authorities took him to a nearby hospital.

His son drove from Cincinnati to Louisville Monday evening to meet him.

Cowdrey was last seen at his residence at the Eastgate Senior Village in Cincinnati between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

He was driving a 2010 Honda Fit and was allegedly involved in a minor traffic accident in Green Township at 4 p.m. His vehicle was later identified in Lawrenceburg, Ind., at 4:26 p.m.

No other details have been released by the family or police at this time.
