School will resume as normal at a Butler County elementary school after a gas leak scare Tuesday morning.
Fairfield East Elementary School was evacuated early Tuesday morning after a worker with the Latchkey program reported the gas leak. The worker and another employee got out safely, according to a Fairfield City Schools spokesperson.
Fire crews responded to the scene and could not find a gas leak. Duke Energy is running tests to make certain there is no threat to students.
Officials say no children were in the school at the time the gas leak was reported. Less than 20 Latchkey students were held outside of the building with their parents while crews investigated the possible leak.
School will resume as normal at 9:30 a.m., according to a school spokesperson.
