CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati trustees voted Wednesday to approve a severance package that will allot nearly $1.3 million dollars to former university president Greg Williams over the next two years.

Williams stepped down from his position in August, six days before the start of fall classes. He cited personal reasons for his sudden resignation.

Under the severance package awarded to him, Williams will receive the following:

  • $112,750 for a bonus for last year
  • $100,000 payment for supplemental retirement benefits
  • $300,000 for the first year for a consulting deal and $200,000 for the second year
  • $255,000 salary for his faculty position in the College of Law
  • $300,000 payment to buy out the remainder of his contract

Williams will also be allowed in a UC-owned condominium in Walnut Hills.

UC Provost Santa Ono is now serving as interim president. Ono is the senior vice president of academic affairs and both a pediatrics and biology professor at UC.
