Man loses 3 toes after being hit by train

CINCINNATI - A homeless man is expected to be okay after being hit by a train early Wednesday morning.

Police say they got the call around 3 a.m. that a man had been hit by a train near Monon Avenue near Vine Street.

When officers arrived, they discovered the man’s foot had been run over by the train. Officers say the man lost three toes in the accident and he was holding them in his hand when police arrived.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment, but his injuries were not considered life threatening.

Police have not released any additional details about the incident or the man's identity.
