MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - A Middletown 11-month-old is dead Tuesday morning and officials suspect medication found around the house may be to blame.
A mother of four called officials to her residence in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday after she said she believed her 11-month-old son consumed pills that had spilled onto the kitchen floor.
Emergency crews transported the baby to Atrium Medical Center, where he died shortly after arrival. Officials have not said what kind of pills he possibly consumed.
Doctors checked the mother’s three other children at the hospital as a precautionary measure, officials said. Two of the children were transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for observation, officials added. The third child, a newborn, was released to a family member.
Middletown authorities are investigating the death and are searching the Lafayette Avenue residence.
An autopsy of the 11-month-old is scheduled for Tuesday.
Officials have not released any additional details at this time including the boy’s identity.
