10/16 VB: SK, Ryle, NDA, Campbell win

Junior outside hitter Kaitlin Murray recorded one of her 20 kills on the winning point as Simon Kenton (26-12) defeated South Oldham (22-14), 25-20, 23-25, 28-26, 25-22 in a Region 8 quarterfinal at Shelby County on Tuesday.

Murray finished with 20 kills as the Pioneers won their fifth straight match.

Senior libero Kelsey Henderson added 21 digs and junior setter Sophie Dunn dished for 35 assists for Simon Kenton, which will play Anderson County in a regional semifinal at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL SINKS AUGUSTA – Junior middle hitter Hannah Weber and sophomore outside hitter Kirby Seiter rolled up nine kills each as Campbell County (19-13) defeated Deming (17-13), 25-11, 25-9, 25-12 in a 10th Region quarterfinal at Bracken County.

The Camels will play Clark County at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in a regional semifinal.

RYLE, NOTRE DAME ADVANCE – Junior outside hitter/setter Harper Hempel tallied six kills, 12 assists and seven aces as Ryle (28-7) defeated Newport Central Catholic (10-20), 25-11, 25-9, 25-14 in a 9th Region quarterfinal at St. Henry on Tuesday.

Sophomore outside hitter/setter Ashley Bush chipped in with six kills and nine assists for the Raiders, who will play Notre Dame in a regional semifinal at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Notre Dame (31-7) defeated Villa Madonna (18-9), 25-11, 25-9, 25-14.

Junior libero Meredith Klare led the Pandas with 11 digs, and junior setter Elly Ogle dished for 12 assists.
