Campbell County and Scott both won their Region 10 semifinals on Wednesday and will face each other in the championship match at Bracken County.

Junior middle hitter Claire Gerhardstein recorded nine kills in the Eagles’ 25-15, 25-10, 25-17 upset win over Montgomery County (23-12), which led the region in wins.

Freshman outside hitter Jessica Tapp added seven kills and served six times for three aces for Scott (13-20).

Junior libero Amber Robinson added six aces out of 18 serves for the Eagles, who finished with 17 aces in the match.

Sophomore outside hitter Kirby Seiter rolled up 12 kills as the Camels (20-13) defeated Clark County (20-11), 25-17, 25-11, 25-15.

Kirby was named player of the year in the region earlier in the day.

Senior outside hitter Julia Peters added eight digs for Campbell County.

The final between the Eagles and Camels will be played at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

SIMON KENTON ADVANCES TO REGION 8 FINAL – Simon Kenton (27-12) defeated Anderson County (20-17), 25-9, 25-12, 25-15 in an 8th Region semifinal at Shelby County.

Senior outside hitter Samatha Eudy and junior outside hitter Kaitlin Murray led the Pioneers with eight kills each.

Junior setter Sophie Dunn dished for 20 assists in the win for Simon Kenton, which will face North Oldham in the regional final at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

ST. HENRY, COOPER HEADED TO REGIONAL SEMIS – Senior outside hitter Abby Bessler finished with 15 kills as St. Henry (30-8) defeated Holy Cross (22-7), 25-14, 25-14, 25-14 in a Region 9 quarterfinal at St. Henry.

Senior outside hitter Rachel Fortner added 10 kills and 13 assists, and junior libero Corie Flood chipped in 13 digs in the Crusaders’ win.

In the other quarterfinal played on Wednesday, Cooper (19-12) won its first-ever regional match, defeating Highlands (13-23), 25-15, 25-13, 25-20.

Senior right side hitter Taylor Zingsheim and senior middle hitter Julia Edmonds paced the Jaguars with 12 kills each.

St. Henry and Cooper will face each other in a regional semifinal at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The final will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
