Sophomore outside hitter Kirby Seiter rolled up 12 kills in Campbell County’s regional championship win over Scott in the 10th Region final at Bracken County on Thursday.
Sophomore libero Haley Cundiff added 12 kills for the Camels (21-13), who rallied past Scott (13-21) after losing the first game, 17-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-22.
Seiter, senior outside hitter Julia Peters, sophomore defensive specialist/setter Carson Gray and junior middle hitter Hannah Weber were all named to the all-tournament team.
Campbell County advances to the state tournament, and will face Owensboro Catholic in the first round at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Valley High School in Louisville.
ST. HENRY, NOTRE DAME ADVANCE TO 9TH FINAL – Senior Abbey Bessler tallied 19 kills as the Crusaders (31-8) defeated Cooper (19-13), 25-13, 25-20, 25-14 in a Region 9 semifinal at. St. Henry.
Senior outside hitter Rachel Fortner finished with nine kills and 20 assists for St. Henry, which will play Notre Dame in the regional final at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The Pandas (32-7) got past Ryle (27-8), 25-11, 25-18, 25-8 in the other semifinal.
Junior setter Elly Ogle racked up 29 assists, three kills and three aces, and senior middle blocker Sydney Schuler tallied 10 kills and six blocks for Notre Dame.
SIMON KENTON FALLS IN 8TH FINAL – Senior setter Kaitlin Murray recorded 15 kills, but the Pioneers (27-13) lost to North Oldham (28-10), 25-7, 26-28, 25-15, 25-21 in the Region 8 championship match at Shelby County.
Junior setter Sophie Dunn dished for 21 assists, and senior outside hitter Samatha Eudy served for five aces in the win for Simon Kenton.

Winning a district championship is nothing new for the Newport Central Catholic fast-pitch softball team. The Thoroughbreds have done it five times in the last seven years.
