Junior guard Nick Ruthsatz was 5-for-5 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to lift Covington Catholic to a 50-48 win over Newport Central Catholic on Thursday.
The Thoroughbreds had the ball with 10 seconds left in regulation but were unable to generate a shot.
Ruthsatz finished with 12 points, including seven in the decisive final frame that saw CovCath rally from two points down, and sophomore forward Bo Schuh also recorded 12.
NewCath sophomore center Drew McDonald led all scorers with 21 points, and junior forward Jake Schulte rolled up nine points and 10 rebounds.

RYLE 64, HIGHLANDS 55 – Senior guard Mark Fussenegger tallied a game-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Raiders’ win.
Junior guard Tanner White added 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and junior center Will Stuhr chipped in 13 and 10 rebounds for Ryle.
Stuhr scored six of his points in a decisive third quarter that saw the Raiders extend their six-point halftime lead to 15.
Highlands was led by senior guard Luke Turner’s 14 points.

BOONE COUNTY 49, CAMPBELL COUNTY 35 – Sophomore forward Brenden Stanley led all scorers with 18 points as the Rebels won for the sixth time in seven games.
Stanley racked up six points in the first quarter, and he added six more in the third.
Sophomore forward Junior Stockwell chipped in 11 points for Boone County, six in the critical second quarter as the Rebels took an 11-point halftime lead.

Senior guard Tylor Herndon poured in 18 points for Gallatin County, which won its third straight game.
Senior guard Zach Ripy led Owen County with 15 points as the Rebels had their six-game winning streak snapped.

LUDLOW 82, BELLEVUE 66 – Panthers junior forward Jared Howard scored 13 of his game-high 28 points in the third quarter to help blow the game open.
Ludlow hit six of its seven 3-pointers in the third period.
Junior guard Geoffrey Thornsburg added 20 points for the Panthers – 11 of which came in the opening stanza.
Senior Joseph Hornback finished with 22 points, and senior Richard Meredith poured in 21 in the losing effort for the Tigers.
