1/12 BBK: NewCath takes down Campbell

   Sophomore center Drew McDonald’s stick-back off a missed free throw with just over a minutes remaining iced Newport Central Catholic’s 68-64 win over Campbell County on Saturday.

   McDonald finished with a career-high 27 points, including 11 in the first quarter.

   Senior forward Michael Bueter added 13 points, and junior forward Jake Schulte chipped in nine points and nine rebounds for the Thoroughbreds.

   Junior guard Corey Holbrook paced the Camels with 27 points.

   SCOTT 60, CALVARY CHRISTIAN 34 – Junior guard Josh Castleman led 13 Eagles scorers with 10 points.

   Castleman scored six of his points in the second quarter to help the Eagles establish a 33-point halftime lead.

   Junior forward Kameron Crim added eight points for Scott. Cougars senior guard John Moran led all scorers with 15 points.

   GRANT COUNTY 65, VILLA MADONNA 49 – Junior guard Tyler Carr scored 10 points in the first quarter and a game-best 21 overall in the Braves’ win.

   Senior guard Andy Piccirillo paced the Blue Lightning with 11 points and senior guard Andrew Smith rolled up 10.
