Senior guard Andrew Sampson scored 33 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, to key Simon Kenton’s 76-58 win over Boone County on Tuesday.
Sampson hit three 3-pointers and four free throws in the final frame. He finished with five treys for the game.
Junior forward Taylor Morrison added 14 points – all in the second half – in Simon Kenton’s season opener.
Sophomore Brenden Stanley led the Rebels with 24 points.

HOLMES 58, NEWPORT 51 – Senior forward Chris Englemon scored 15 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Englemon also scored a team-high six points in the third quarter as Holmes opened up a six-point lead after being tied at halftime.
Senior guard Daquan Palmer also notched 15 points in the Bulldogs’ win, with 11 coming on the foul line.
Newport senior forward Jasean Short led all scorers with 19 points.

RYLE 65, ST. HENRY 49 – Senior guard Drew Mays scored six points during the decisive fourth quarter as the Raiders blew the game open.
Mays finished with a game-high 22 points for Ryle, which led by three entering the final stanza.
Junior center Will Stuhr tallied 15 points and eight rebounds, and senior guard Mark Fussenegger added nine points – all on 3-pointers – and six rebounds in the Raiders’ win.
Juniors center Jordan Noble and guard Nick Rechtin led the Crusaders with 11 points each.

COVINGTON CATHOLIC 59, CLARK COUNTY 38 – Junior guard Nick Ruthsatz scored 15 of his game-high 26 points in the first quarter for the Colonels.
Ruthsatz was 5-for-6 on field goal attempts – including 3-of-3 from behind the arc – and he drained both of his free throws in the opening stanza.
CovCath senior center Zack Tabler came off the bench to score 11 points, and sophomore forward Bo Schuh added eight points and five blocks.
