Holbrook scores 38 in Camels' win

   Junior guard Corey Holbrook tallied a season-high 38 points as Campbell County edged Mason County, 67-62 on Wednesday.

   Holbrook hit a free throw with 11 seconds remaining to extend the Camels’ lead to four, making it a two-possession game, and sophomore forward Jake Franzen hit another foul shot with six seconds left.

   Holbrook scored 10 points in the second and four quarters.

   NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 80, NEWPORT 51 – Senior guard Michael Bueter rolled up a game-high 20 points as the Thoroughbreds won their 12th straight.

   Bueter scored eight of his points in the fourth quarter to ice the game.

   Sophomore center Drew McDonald added 12 points for NewCath, and junior forward Jake Schulte chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds.

   Senior guard Cody Pearson led the Wildcats with 15 points.

   Hatton led all scorers with 18 points, and Bolin racked up 11 for Dixie Heights, which has won four of its last five games.

   BROSSART 64, BEECHWOOD 35 – Mustangs junior forward Alex Trentman helped blow the game open with eight of his game-high 14 points in the second quarter.

   Senior forward Justin Saunders and junior center Drew Burns notched 10 points each for Brossart, which has lost back-to-back games following a season-opening 10-game winning streak.

   Senior forward Chase Maus recorded 12 points in the losing effort for the Tigers.

   COVINGTON CATHOLIC 64, DAYTON CHAMINADE-JULIENNE 49 – Colonels junior guard Nick Ruthsatz tallied a game-high 25 points.

   Ruthsatz was 5-for-8 from 3-point range and 10-of-15 from the field. He scored 13 points in the second quarter, hitting 3-of-4 from behind the arc.

   Sophomore forward Bo Schuh added 12 points and five assists for CovCath, hitting 3-of-4 treys.

   HOLY CROSS 65, RYLE 54 – Senior center Antonio Campbell recorded a triple-double as the Indians won their third straight game.

   Campbell racked up 25 points, 12 rebounds and tied his personal best with 10 blocks.

   Senior guard Christian McClendon added 18 points for Holy Cross, including eight in the fourth quarter to help hold off the Raiders.

   Senior guard Drew Mays led the Raiders with 18 points, and junior guard Tanner White added 14 points.
