   Junior guard Daequan Glover came off the bench to score 18 points – 11 in a 32-point fourth quarter – as Holmes beat Harrison County, 82-73 at the Holmes Holiday Classic on Friday.

   Holmes sophomore guard James Bolden led all scorers with 22 points in a game that featured 60 free throw attempts.

   The Bulldogs finished 23-of-34 from the free throw line, and they have won their first 11 games this season.

   SCOTT 81, RUSSELL 52 – Senior forward Nick Jackson rolled up 22 points in the Eagles’ win at the Holmes Holiday Classic.

   Senior guards Kevin Jehn and Tyler Buckner chipped in 16 points each for Scott.

   Jehn’s point total was a career high.

   COVINGTON CATHOLIC 53, CINCINNATI WINTON WOODS 48 – Colonels Senior center Zach Tobler came off the bench to lead all scorers with 16 points.

   Tobler hit all seven of his field goal attempts, and he blocked three shots.

   Senior guard Nick Fredrick added 13 points and three steals for CovCath.

   NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 54, HOLY CROSS 34 – Junior forward Jake Schulte recorded 14 points and six rebounds to key the Thoroughbreds’ win.

   NewCath senior forward Nick Seibert scored 10 of his 11 points in the third quarter to blow the game open, and sophomore center Drew McDonald chipped in eight points and nine rebounds.

   The Thoroughbreds extended their winning streak to eight games to open the season.

   HIGHLANDS 59, FRANKFORT 52 – Junior center Nick True and senior forward Bailey Witte finished with 14 points each to pace the Bluebirds at the Woodford County Invitational.

   Witte scored nine in the fourth quarter to help Highlands pull away, and True tallied six in the first and fourth periods.

   The Bluebirds will play Lexington Paul Dunbar in the fifth-place game at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

   NEWPORT 69, WILLIAMSTOWN 35 – Senior guard Jasean Short scored the Wildcats’ first 10 points of the game and ended up with a game-high 26 points at the Swauger Holiday Classic.

   Short also amassed 12 points in the third

quarter to help blow the game open.

   Junior guard Jaquan Short added 13 points for Newport, which has won six of its last seven games.

   The Wildcats will play Lloyd at 12:20 p.m. in a semifinal on Saturday.

   LLOYD 56, CHATHAM (Ontario) JOHN McGREGOR 48 – Juggernauts senior guard Niko Carter led all scorers with 25 points in a quarterfinal at the Swauger Holiday Classic at Bellevue.

   Carter racked up eight of his points in the second quarter, and senior guard D’Andre Thompson hit both of his 3-pointers in that period to help Lloyd take a seven-point lead into the break.

   Lloyd will play Newport in a semifinal at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday.

   OWEN COUNTY 55, GALLATIN COUNTY 27 – Rebels junior guard Hunter Trenary tallied a game-best 15 points, and senior guard Zach Ripy and freshman forward Carson Williams added 13 points each.

   Ripy scored seven of his points in the first quarter to help Owen County jump out to an early 12-point lead.

   The Wildcats were led by senior guard Kristian Morgan’s 11 points.

   CALVARY CHRISTIAN 54, LOUISVILLE ST. FRANCIS 30 – Senior guard Nick Whitt’s 17 points led the Cougars in the third-place game of the Portland Christian Holiday Classic.

   Whitt, who poured in 10 of his points in the first quarter, also grabbed nine rebounds, dished for five assists and stole the ball five times.

   Sophomore guard Riley Worstell added 13 points for Calvary Christian.
