   Junior guard Logan Cummins hit three early baskets in overtime to lift Grant County to a 52-44 win over Beechwood on Wednesday.

   Cummins finished with six points in the extra session and a game-high 19 points overall.

   The Rebels had a chance to clinch it with five seconds remaining after Grant County drew a two-shot foul with the score tied, but the Rebels missed both free throws.

   Senior forward Chase Maus paced the Tigers with 12 points, and sophomore guard Jacob Huff had 10.

   NEWPORT 92, AUGUSTA 79 – Senior forward Cody Pearson tallied a career-high 30 points as all five Wildcats scorers reached double figures.

   Senior guard Jasean Short rolled up 20 points, and senior forward Marquis Commodore poured in 18 for Newport, which has won six of its last seven games.

   Panthers junior guard Brent Bach led all scorers with 32 points.

   COVINGTON CATHOLIC 69, BOONE COUNTY 54 – The Colonels started the third quarter on a 9-0 run to break the halftime tie.

   Junior forward Nathan Wichmann scored all six of his points in that frame to help CovCath take the lead for good.

   Senior center Zach Tobler and junior guard Nick Ruthsatz led the Colonels with 16 points each, and sophomore forward Bo Schuh racked up nine points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

   Rebels senior guard Brett Mayberry led all scorers with 21 points.

   Both teams shot 51 percent from the field, and CovCath finished with a 34-21 rebounding edge.

   PENDLETON COUNTY 67, LUDLOW 64 – Senior guard Aaron Gibson hit a 3-pointer with 24 seconds left in regulation to give the Wildcats’ the lead for good.

   The Panthers took the lead early in the first quarter before Pendleton County answered with a 17-0 run.

   Junior center Jerad Howard rolled up a career-best 33 points, and senior forward Chris Camarena chipped in 18 as Ludlow hit 10 3-pointers.

   CAMPBELL COUNTY 67, HARRISON COUNTY 58 – Junior guard Corey Holbrook hit 8-of-9 free throws in the fourth quarter to help ice the game for the Camels.

   Holbrook, who led all scorers with 24 points, also poured in 10 first-quarter points to help Campbell County establish an early 11-point lead.

   Freshman Matt Wilson tallied 13 points and 16 rebounds, and senior guard Nate McGovney ended the night with 12 points and 10 boards for Campbell County.
