Senior center Morgan Case blocked a potentially game-tying shot with four seconds remaining as Villa Madonna edged Dayton, 41-39 on Wednesday.
Case finished with 10 rebounds and two blocks.
Junior guard Alex Hengge hit a shot to give the Blue Lightning the fourth-quarter lead, and freshman Lexie Aytes and senior forward Lauren Dumaine each hit a late free throw.
Hengge finished with a game-high 11 points, and Aytes and Dumaine added nine each.
Junior guard Nicole Schowalter led the Greendevils with nine points.

NOTRE DAME 51, DIXIE HEIGHTS 34 – Senior forward Olivia Voskuhl scored eight of her 11 points in the first quarter to help the Pandas jump out to a 14-point lead.
Senior guards Paige Kellam and Kindsey Bernhard also finished with 11 points for Notre Dame, which won its second straight game to open the season.
Colonels sophomore center Liza Tibbs led all scorers with 18 points.

Trojans senior guard Bridgette Hildreth led all scorers with 23 points, and senior guard Anna Matchinga rolled up 19.

Sophomore guard Jordan Miller racked up six points in the first quarter as St. Henry jumped out to a 12-point lead. Coburn and junior forward Tricia Marks added five points each in the opening frame.
The Crusaders’ early press was too much for the Juggernauts, who were led by senior guard Shelby Rudd’s 12 points.
