Boone County had gone to overtime three times previously this season, but on Tuesday the Rebels finally won a game that went to an extra session.
Junior center Brannen McDonald and sophomore guard Brett Mayberry scored four points each in OT as Boone County clipped Newport, 67-61 to improve to 1-3 on the season in overtime games.
The Rebels jumped out to a 10-0 lead, and while the Wildcats never had the lead in regulation, senior forward Marquis Commodore hit a 3-pointer with six seconds left to force the extra period.
Stanley pulled up for a 12-footer from the baseline at the buzzer, but it would not fall.
Junior forward Hunter Hixenbaugh led Boone County with 16 points, senior Jesse Schulze added 13 and Stanley recorded a double-double as he dished for 10 assists in addition to scoring 12 points.
Junior guard Jaquan Short led all scorers with 21 points, and Commodore had 15 for Newport, which committed 27 turnovers.

SIMON KENTON 58, OWEN COUNTY 56, OT – Pioneers senior guard Andrew Sampson hit a 3-pointer early in overtime and added a free throw with 15 seconds left in the extra frame.
A trey by the Rebels missed at the end of OT.
Simon Kenton led by four in the final minute, but Owen County senior center Carson Williams hit two free throws and hit a layup on the ensuing possession to tie the score.
Sampson tallied a game-high 27 points, and Williams and senior guard Zach Ripy led the Rebels with 19 each.

HOLMES 71, DIXIE HEIGHTS 56 – Bulldogs sophomore guard James Bolden and junior guard/forward Armani Housley scored seven points each in the decisive second quarter.
Bolden led five Holmes players in double figures with 18 points, and Housley came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points.
The Bulldogs finished the game 18-for-19 from the free throw line.

Junior forward Samuel Hemmerich added 17 points – nine in the opening period – as Conner held its second straight opponent to 40 points.

Senior forward Nick Seibert led NewCath with 15 points, and senior center Jake Schulte grabbed eight rebounds.

They raced 1-2-3 in line, trading the lead a whopping 15 times over the final, frantic 75 laps. All three drivers had a last-lap plan in mind when they zipped past the white flag, and it was Takuma Sato who acted first with a bold move for the win.
