Indians rally from 25 down, fall on late 3

   Holy Cross provided Holmes with its biggest challenge of the season.

   But sophomore guard James Bolden hit a 3-pointer with 19 seconds left to lift the Bulldogs to a 68-65 win over the Indians on Friday.

   Holmes, which is now 16-0, had won every previous game by at least five points.

   Holy Cross came all the way back from a 25-point halftime deficit to tie the score at 65 with 40 seconds remaining on a field goal by senior guard Christian McClendon.

   Bulldogs senior forward Chris Engelmon led all scorers with 21 points, and senior guard Daquan Palmer and Bolden added 16 each.

   The Indians were led by senior center Antonio Campbell’s 18 points.

   DIXIE HEIGHTS 56, ST. HENRY 45 – Junior guard Brandon Hatton paced the Colonels with 25 points, and he was 9-for-12 from the free throw line.

   Hatton scored nine points in the third quarter and hit three free throws in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

   Sophomore forward Nick Niehaus chipped in 10 points for Dixie Heights, which was won five of its last six.

   Senior center Darius Meiman was the Crusaders’ leading scorer with 15 points.

   COVINGTON CATHOLIC 61, BEECHWOOD 38 – Colonels junior guard Nick Ruthsatz scored eight points in the first quarter and finished with a game-best 19 points.

   Senior forward Sawyer Pauly added 11 points for CovCath, which won its seventh straight game.

   Beechwood was led by senior forward Chase Maus, who tallied 13 points.

   OWEN COUNTY 56, HENRY COUNTY 46 – Senior point guard Zach Ripy hit all six of his free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to ice the game for the Rebels.

   Ripy led all scorers with 16 points, and freshman forward Carson Williams chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds for Owen County, which won its fifth straight game.

   SIMON KENTON 73, WALTON-VERONA 40 – Senior guard Andrew Sampson rolled up a game-high 29 points for the Pioneers – 10 in the first quarter and 11 in the fourth.

   Senior center Jared Bowling also helped Simon Kenton jump to a 12-point lead after the opening frame, scoring eight early points. Bowling and senior guard Riley Barnes added 11 points each in the Pioneers’ win.

   Junior guard Tanner Moeves racked up 10 points for the Bearcats.

   DAYTON 72, HERITAGE 60 – Greendevils sophomore forward Deion Conley recorded a double-double, tying a game best with 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

   Conley scored 17 of his points in the second half as Dayton won its first game of the season.

   Junior forward Austin Brockman added 19 points for the Greendevils, including 10 in the second quarter.
