   Beechwood hit 10 3-pointers – all in the first half – as the Tigers beat Dayton, 63-33 in the first round of the Region 9 All ‘A’ tournament at Newport Central Catholic on Monday.

   Freshman guard Macy Stuempel hit four treys during Beechwood’s 33-point second quarter, and eighth-grade guard Ally Johnson added 10 points in that frame, hitting four field goals including a pair of 3-pointers.

   Stuempel led all scorers with 18 points, and Johnson added 15 for the Tigers, who will play Villa Madonna at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

   HOLY CROSS 54, NEWPORT 22 – Sophomore center Ally Mayhaus rolled up a game-best 17 points in the Indians’ Region 9 All ‘A’ first-round win at Newport Central Catholic.

   Senior guard DeAsia Beal added 11 points for Holy Cross, which will play NewCath at 6 p.m. at Wednesday.

   SIMON KENTON 69, DIXIE HEIGHTS 40 – Senior forward Paige Bosse rolled up 14 points as the Pioneers won their ninth straight game.

   Junior guard Abby Owings added 12 points for Simon Kenton, which had 12 players score in the win.

   Junior forward Alexis Strong paced the Colonels with 14 points.

   GRANT COUNTY 57, LUDLOW 36 – Sophomore guard Tori Wofford and senior center Emily Kroger scored 11 points each in the losing effort for the Panthers.

   Wofford hit 7-of-8 free throws and grabbed four rebounds. Kroger finished 5-for-6 from the foul line, and she added three boards.
