Senior helps Mustangs down St. Patrick

Sarah Futscher wasted little time reaching a milestone as Bishop Brossart topped St. Patrick, 64-22, at home on Saturday.

The junior center, needing four points to join the Mustangs’ 1,000-point club, rebounded a miss three minutes into the game and put it in to reach the milestone.

She finished the night with eight points, while senior Rachel Hartig poured in 12 points to go with eight steals as Brossart cruised to the easy win. Freshman Sydney Shannon added 10 points to the effort.

St. Patrick was led by Kaitlyn Yeary’s 10 points.

HOLY CROSS 67, LLOYD 44 – DeAsia Beal had a full game, scoring 16 to go with nine steals, seven assists and five rebounds, to help the Indians cruise past Lloyd in the regular season finale for both squads.

Sophomore center Ally Mayhaus chipped in with 15 points to help Holy Cross get back in the winning column after falling to Simon Kenton earlier in the week. Lloyd was led by senior Shelby Rudd’s game-high 17 points.

CALVARY CHRISTIAN 48, HERITAGE ACADEMY 27 – Calvary won the Kentucky Christian thletic Conference title, beating the host, Heritage Academy, behind a 20-point performance by sophomore Dayne Merkley. It was the Cougars’ first year competing in the tournament.

Merkley drained four 3-pointers en route to her game-high score, while teammate McKenzie Rusch, a senior, added 14 points to the title drive. The Eagles were led by Taylor Rusch’s 13 points.

ST. HENRY 59, BEECHWOOD 43 – St. Henry had four players finish in double figures en route to the win.

Trisha Marks led the Crusaders with 15 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Savannah Neace added 13 points to go with 16 rebounds.

The Tigers got 11 from Allison Johnson and 10 points from Macy Stuempel in the loss.
