   Simon Kenton erased a six-point fourth quarter deficit in a 53-47 win over Walton-Verona in a District 32 semifinal at Williamstown on Tuesday.

   Senior guard Riley Barnes scored all 11 of his points in the final period for the Pioneers, who will play Grant County in the district final at 7 p.m. on Friday.

   Sophomore forward Noah Robinson hit a shot to put Simon Kenton ahead, 37-36 with just under six minutes to play, and Barnes scored the next six points of the game as the Pioneers never looked back.

   Barnes extended the lead to three with a pair of free throws, followed by a pair of technical foul shots, and he connected on a field goal on the ensuing possession. He was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe.

   Senior forward Trevor Montgomery led Simon Kenton in scoring with 12 points, including a three-point play followed by a 3-pointer in the third quarter that cut the Pioneers’ deficit to five.

   NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 48, HIGHLANDS 37 – Senior guard Michael Bueter scored 17 points, and sophomore center Drew McDonald added 13 in a District 36 semifinal at Highlands.

   Senior guard Luke Turner and junior guard Drew Houliston paced the Bluebirds with 12 points each.

   SCOTT 75, CAMPBELL COUNTY 65 – Eagles senior forward Nick Jackson finished with a game-best 37 points in a District 37 semifinal at Campbell County Middle School.

   Scott trailed by two entering the fourth quarter, but Jackson scored 15 points in the final period, 10 of which came on the foul line. He also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career.

   Senior guard Eric Pouncy added 20 points for the Eagles, who will play Brossart in the district final at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

   Senior forward Nate McGovney rolled up 26 points, and sophomore forward Deondre Jackson tallied 13 for the Camels.

   BROSSART 68, CALVARY CHRISTIAN 36 – Junior forward Alex Trentman scored 19 of his game-best 23 points in the first half for the Mustangs in a District 37 semifinal at Campbell County Middle School.

   Senior guard Ben Uebel helped Brossart jump out to an early 13-point lead by recording eight of his 10 points in the first quarter.

   Senior guard Nick Whitt paced the Cougars with 17 points, four assists and four rebounds.

   The Mustangs will play Scott in the district championship game at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
