   Junior guard Geoffrey Thornsburg scored seven four-quarter points, draining all five of his free throws as Ludlow pulled away from Williamstown late, winning 51-34 on Wednesday.

   The Panthers led by just four entering the final frame.

   Thornsburg led all scorers with 13 points, and junior forward Mitchell Cody added 12 points and nine rebounds as Ludlow won its third straight game.

   NEWPORT 72, DAYTON 32 – Senior forward Jasean Short rolled up 18 points in the Wildcats’ win.

   Freshman guard Ethan Snapp and sophomore guard/forward Darian Witherspoon added 11 points each for Newport. Snapp hit a pair of threes in the second quarter, and Witherspoon came off the bench and racked up nine points in the final stanza.

   Senior forward Aroyl Wright scored seven of his nine points in the first quarter, including an alley-oop for his first basket, to help Newport jump out to a 21-point lead.

   Dayton was led by senior guard Derek Holt’s 10 points.
