Pioneers' Lang hurls no-hitter, adds 3 doubles

   Senior Erica Lang threw a four-inning no-hitter and doubled all three times she came to the plate as Simon Kenton opened its season with a 15-0 home win against Ludlow on Friday.

   Lang had a two-run double in the first inning, adding a pair of run-scoring doubles in the Pioneers seven-run third inning.

   Freshman second baseman Hannah Perry went 3-3 with two doubles and matched Lang with four RBI, including a two-run single in the third inning.

   Senior Caitlin Turner and sophomore Samantha Perkins added two RBIs each.

   NEWPORT 11, SILVER GROVE 0 –  Sophomore Katlyn Hoeh threw her second shutout in as many days as Newport needed just five innings to defeat Silver Grove.

   Hoeh also went 2-for-3 at the plate. 

   Senior left fielder Skye Raleigh drove in a pair of runs, one in the first and second innings, and tripled in the Wildcats six-run fourth inning.
