Junior midfielder Connor Hannaken and senior center midfielder Graeham Heil scored for Newport Central Catholic in a 2-0 win over Holy Cross on Saturday.
Hannaken fired a shot from 20 yards out that deflected off a defender and into the net 15 minutes into the match to give the Thoroughbreds the early lead.
Heil iced the match when he found the net off a through ball from Hannaken in the second half.
HALFTIME: 1-0. GOALS: NCC—Hannaken, Heil. SHUTOUT: Grosser (1 save). RECORDS: NewCath 1-2, Holy Cross 0-1-1.
BOONE COUNTY 10, GALLATIN COUNTY 1 – Senior midfielder Rian Ait Salih scored twice and added an assist in the Rebels’ win.
Senior forward Matt Melzer and sophomore striker Brett Mayberry also netted two goals each for Boone County, which has won its first two matches to open the season.
HALFTIME: 3-0. GOALS: BC—Melzer 2, Mayberry 2, Ait Salih 2, Rice, Borkowski, O’Hara, Thamann. GC—N/A. RECORDS: Boone County 2-0, Gallatin County 0-2.
RYLE 3, LEXINGTON BRYAN STATION 1 – Senior midfielder Mitchell See scored the go-ahead goal seven minutes into the second half to give the Raiders the lead for good.
Bryan Station scored at the seven-minute mark of the first half, but Ryle senior striker Ernesto Muno tied it six minutes later.
Muno set up the decisive goal with a crossing pass to See, who deposited it in the net to make it 2-1.
Senior defender Garrett Mead added a goal later in the second half to seal the Raiders’ first win of the season.

HIGHLANDS 4, PENDLETON COUNTY 3 – Senior Ethan Schmits scored two goals to lead the Bluebirds.
Junior Chris Garbig and sophomore Devin Dupont also scored for Highlands. Dupont leads the team with four goals, and junior Andrew Barnes dished for his team-best third assist.
