Landrum nets decisive goal for Pioneers

Simon Kenton senior forward Lindsay Landrum scored from in front of the net 18 minutes into the first half for the lone goal of the Pioneers’ 1-0 win over Walton-Verona on Saturday.

Junior midfielder Courtney Fulmer picked up the assist, and freshman Abby Thatcher stopped two shots to earn Simon Kenton’s second shutout in two matches this season.

Dusty Jones picked up his first win as the Pioneers’ coach. He was hired late last week to take over the team.

HALFTIME: 1-0. GOAL: SK—Landrum. SHUTOUT: Thatcher (2 saves). RECORDS: Simon Kenton 2-0, Walton-Verona 0-3.

NOTRE DAME 4, LEXINGTON CATHOLIC 2 – Senior striker Ellie Eckerle scored twice – including the game-winning goal – and added an assist as the Pandas remained unbeaten.

Notre Dame netted a pair of goals early in the first half, but the Knights put two balls in the net during a six-minute span early in the second half to even the score at two.

Eckerle put the Pandas ahead for good by burying a shot from 12 yards out with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Sophomore striker Mandy Arnzen sealed the game a minute later with a goal off a feed by Ecklerle.

HALFTIME: Notre Dame, 2-0. GOALS: ND—Eckerle 2, Arnzen, Meier. LC—Gorham, Metzger. RECORDS: Notre Dame 3-0, LexCath 1-1-1.
