Junior middle hitter Nikki Kiernan recorded 12 kills as Newport Central Catholic (4-7) defeated Scott (3-9), 25-22, 22-25, 17-25, 25-20, 15-11 on Wednesday.

Junior outside hitter Abbie Lukens added 10 kills for the Thoroughbreds, who rallied from a 2-1 deficit to snap their three-match skid.

Junior setter Alyssa Maier dished for 35 assists, and senior libero Maria Froendhoff chipped in 29 digs and nine aces in the NewCath win.

LUDLOW DOWNS DIXIE – Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Goodpaster served for five aces as Ludlow (9-3) defeated Dixie Heights (0-8), 25-21, 25-19.

Goodpaster notched three of her aces during a rally late in the first game to help the Panthers.

Junior outside hitter Nicole Frevola and senior middle hitter Emily Kroger added four kills each for Ludlow, which won its fourth straight match.

SIMON KENTON BEATS GRANT – Senior outside hitter Samantha Eudy rolled up five kills and seven aces as Simon Kenton (12-2) defeated Grant County (6-8), 25-12, 25-11, 25-12.
