Freshman Jenna McGuire’s 39 led Villa Madonna to a rain-shortened All ‘A’ Region 9 championship on Thursday.
The Blue Lightning won by 33 strokes on the front nine of the Kenton County Pioneer Course. The tournament was originally scheduled for 18 holes, but heavy rain forced the event to be called after nine.
In addition to all of Villa Madonna’s players, Holy Cross’ Emily Armbrecht and Newport Central Catholic’s Chelsea Schack also qualified for the state tournament, which will be Sept. 8 at Lincoln Homestead in Springfield, Ky.
Armbrecht and Schack finished second and third, respectively.

TOP INDIVIDUALS: 1. McGuire (VM) 39; 2. Armbrecht (HC) 40; 3. Schack (NCC) 43.
