Meiman scores 24 for Crusaders

Junior guard Darius Meiman scored 24 points, leading St. Henry past Beechwood, 79-64, Monday night in Fort Mitchell.

Meiman scored 14 points in the first half and added 10 points in the third quarter when the Crusaders outscored the Tigers, 22-7, to open up a 62-45 lead. Two of Meiman’s three 3-pointers in the game came in the third quarter.

Junior forward Mitch Kuebbing added 12 points and senior guard Alan Gripshover 11 for St. Henry.

Beechwood was paced by 16 points from senior forward Corey Cruse.

Senior guard R. J. Estrella added 14 points, including 11 in the second quarter when he drained all three of his triples in the game.

LUDLOW 43, VILLA MADONNA 38 – Sophomores Jerad Howard and Geoffrey Thornsburg and senior Chris Yates accounted for all 16 points during a third-quarter rally that pushed the Panthers past the Blue Lightning.
Thornsburg scored six points and Yates and Howard had five each as Ludlow outscored Villa, 16-7 in the quarter, to build a 36-28 lead.

Howard finished with 12 points to lead the Panthers, followed by 11 from Yates and eight from Thornsburg.
Junior forward Thomas Steinkoenig led Villa Madonna with 13 points, making seven of nine free throws.

The Blue Lightning made 17 of 24 free throws (70.8 percent) in the game.
