Schaefer scores 22 in Bluebirds' win

Junior forward Leah Schaefer scored eight of her game-high 22 points during the decisive third quarter of Highlands’ 65-53 win over Beechwood on Tuesday.

Juniors guard Vanessa Fisse and center Jesse Daley added 10 points each for Highlands, which has won four of its last five games.

The Bluebirds led by six at halftime, but Schaefer and eighth-grade guard Haley Coffey – who added seven points in the third quarter – helped them extend their lead to 17.

Sophomore guard Emily Pawsat led Beechwood with 17 points and six steals.

CALVARY CHRISTIAN 60, SILVER GROVE 30 – Junior center Zania Caudill led the Cougars with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Hayley Emmerich added 12 points and three assists for Calvary Christian, which snapped a nine-game skid.

DAYTON 53, BELLEVUE 40 – Senior guard Julia Kilburn poured in a game-high 15 points in the Greendevils’ win.

Dayton trailed by one entering the fourth quarter, but seven Greendevils scored in the final period with none posting more than four points.

Sophomore guard Nicole Schowalter and senior guard Heather Wayman added 10 points each for Dayton.

Bellevue was led by junior forward Jennifer Sexton, who rolled up 14 points.

Junior guard Kindsay Bernhard added 11 points for Notre Dame, including eight in the fourth quarter to seal the game.

Camels junior guard Taylor Robinson led all scorers with 16 points.

VILLA MADONNA 24, LUDLOW 19 – Sophomore guard Alex Hengge hit two free throws late in the fourth quarter to seal the game for the Blue Lightning.

No player scored more than five points for Villa Madonna, which has allowed less than 30 points in its last four wins.

Ludlow senior guard Mariah Johnson led all scorers with 12 points.
