Newport Central Catholic erased an 8-point lead in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter, but Holmes held on in overtime for a 64-60 win Friday Night in Newport.
Junior guard Michael Bueter completed the Thoroughbreds' fourth-quarter comeback with a basket following a steal by Andy Miller to tie the score, 51-51.
Senior forward Dontel Rice scored four points in overtime as Holmes led the entire time.
Rice also had eight points in the fourth quarter, making 11 of 16 free throws to finish with a game-high 27 points.
Junior guard B. J. Coston added 14 points for the Bulldogs.
Holmes had wiped out an eight point lead itself, as NewCath jumped out to a 17-9 lead after one quarter.
Senior guard Brady Hightchew led the Thoroughbreds with 16 points. Bueter and senior guard Zach Ryan added 12 points each.

COOPER 44, BOONE COUNTY 41 – Six-foot-seven junior forward Louis Maniacci had 16 points, 20 rebounds, seven steals and one block as Cooper beat Boone County for the first time ever.
Maniacci had half his points in the second quarter, when Cooper moved ahead, 27-25, and four more in the third quarter as the Jaguars expanded their lead to five, 37-32.
Senior guard Chase Stanley led Boone County with 18 points, sinking half of the Rebels eight 3-pointers in the game. Three of Stanley’s triples came in the first half.
The win not only gives Cooper a win against each of its other rivals within Boone County, but also gives them the second seed in 33rd District tournament later this month.

BISHOP BROSSART 47, SCOTT 45 – The Mustangs scored two baskets in the final five seconds to gain district win against the Eagles.
Junior guard Josh Felts made a basket with nine seconds remaining to put the Eagles ahead, 45-43, but junior forward Justin Saunders was fouled while putting in a basket that tied the score for Brossart with 3.5 seconds remaining.
Saunders missed the free throw, but sophomore guard Nate Verst recovered the rebound and put it in for the game-winning score, as Scott was unable to inbound the ball before time ran out.
Saunders and Verst keyed the Mustangs fourth-quarter comeback, each scoring six points in the quarter after Scott led, 35-28, heading into the final quarter.
The Eagles were paced by 19 points from junior forward Nick Jackson. Fellow junior forward Tyler Bucker added 14 points, with 10 of those coming in the first half, including both his 3-pointers.

LLOYD 60, HIGHLANDS 49 – Niko Carter, Brady Asher, and Addison Brown all hit 3-pointers for the Juggernauts in the second quarter, helping Lloyd open up a 29-15, halftime lead.
Carter finished with a game-high 17 points. Asher had nine on three 3-pointers and Bray six on two treys.
Highlands was led by senior guard Sam Lewis, who had 15 points. Senior center Patrick Towles followed with 11.
