Sophomore guard Paige Ross drained six 3-pointers, but Cooper still needed sophomore forward Tasha Arnett’s four free throws down the stretch to hold off Mason County for a 56-52 win Saturday in Union.
Ross finished with a game-high 22 points, evenly distributing her triples among the first and second halves.
Junior guard Andrea Thompson followed with 15 points for the Jaguars while sophomore center Savannah Brinneman pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Sophomore guard McKenzie Butler led the Royals with 14 points.

LUDLOW 45, WILLIAMSTOWN 38 – Senior guard Mariah Johnson sank a 3-pointer to open the fourth quarter, breaking a 33-33 tie and igniting a rally that enabled the Panthers to pull away.
Sophomore Annmarie Maley followed with two baskets and freshman guard Tori Wofford had another basket as a 9-3 run had Ludlow ahead, 42-36.
Wofford added three more points down the stretch, finishing with 11 in the game.
Johnson led the Panthers with 17 points.
Senior center Susan Northcutt paced Williamstown with 10 points.

DAYTON 54, NEWPORT 47 – Sophomore guard Nicole Schowalter had one 3-pointer in every quarter, and senior Julia Kilburn added 12 points to lead the Greendevils.
Dayton led, 25-12, at halftime, but Newport rallied to within four points, 35-31, by the end of the third quarter.
Eighth grader Shaunye Stanley scored all nine of her points in the third quarter.
Ashlynn Hensley continued the comeback effort with eight of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, but Kilburn made three of four free throws to enable Dayton to hold on.
