The Boone County Rebels notched their first win of the season after Week 5’s lopsided 34-13 win over Dixie Heights on Homecoming Friday night as the KISS 107 Tailgate Tour made its way to Florence.

The Rebels (1-5) rolled past the Colonels behind 518 yards on offense. Boone County had 383 rushing yards and their success was anchored by senior Jesse Schulze, who racked up 181 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He also threw for one touchdown in the game.

The Rebels broke into Dixie territory on their first drive of the game. After converting on a fourth down situation, senior quarterback Blake Ingolia capped the frame with a three-yard rushing touchdown to give Boone Co. a 7-0 lead.

After Boone scored 20 unanswered, Dixie’s sophomore quarterback Drew Moore rushed for a touchdown to put the Colonels on the board. Schulze countered with a two-yard rushing touchdown on the following drive, giving the Rebels a 27-7 lead going into the break.

Boone County scored in the third quarter on sophomore running back Jerry Marshall’s 35-yard run. The Colonels tried to rally late in the fourth quarter, scoring on a four-yard rushing touchdown by junior running back Joe Radenhausen.

Schulze finished the game with 383 rushing yards and 47 passing yards, and classmate Ingolia finished with 88 passing yards and 27 rushing yards. Ingolia rushed for one touchdown in the contest.

Boone County will host cross town foe Ryle on Sept. 28, while Dixie (1-4) travels to Beechwood.
