CINCINNATI - A local traffic source works to keeps your family safe and makes sure you make it to work on time.  But the way it operates will soon change in a big way.

In July, the traffic information source ARTIMIS will move to Columbus and leave its location in downtown Cincinnati.

The ARTIMIS system includes more than 80 cameras and 57 center-lane miles of fiberoptic cable which help determine traffic conditions around the area, which in turn help news outlets -- including Channel 9 -- stay on top of the latest traffic conditions.

While state officials say the move out of its Cincinnati location will not affect the service the Tri-State receives, others are not so sure.

Local ARTIMIS employees say their team does much more than watch cameras, that's why many are less than thrilled about the coming changes.

"It might be the post office, United Parcel, or it might be the University of Cincinnati.  To be able to get information out in a very timely fashion to the key people who we've identified," said ARTIMIS Supervisor Jim Hungler, explaining this service will go away with the changes.

Coming up tonight on 9 News at 6 p.m., Adam Marshall is on your side with a full investigation showing what those in Columbus have to say about the changes coming.
