CINCINNATI - It’s looking like one movie star is getting closer to announcing a run for US Senate.
Several sources, including Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, tells ABC News that actress Ashley Judd is on the verge of announcing her run for Kentucky’s senate seat against Republican Mitch McConnell.
If Judd does run, she'd have some significant advantages including name recognition, financial resources and appreciation from the University of Kentucky basketball fans that have seen her courtside cheering on the Wildcats.
Republicans aren't wasting any time mounting their attacks even though Judd hasn’t announced her decision about the senate race, according to an ABC News story . One Republican-backed ad airing in parts of the Bluegrass State points out one big problem for Judd’s candidacy – for now she’s not a Kentucky resident.
