Comedy: Dustin Ybarra

Some stand-up comics have a hard time with acting roles. Dustin Ybarra says the key is having a high threshold of boredom. “I feel stand-up takes so much more work,” he says from his apartment in Los Angeles. “You get nicer food. It’s cake man; sittin’ around getting free food!” So far he’s kept fairly busy with acting roles, but he still can’t seem to find a way to replace his beater car.

“I’ve done stuff and I’m wondering at what point does that come, where you get these checks, that acting lifestyle. I don’t know if I’m spending my money wrong, or what.” On stage he talks about whatever happens to be affecting his life. “They’re shutting down the weed stores out here — that sucks. That’s a big issue out here.” Especially for Ybarra. “I’m at that point in my life where all my friends are having kids.
