There’s no “might” about it — John Flansburgh and John Linnell stand as giants of the “Alternative music” revolution. Formed in 1982, They Might Be Giants have charmed their way into the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands of music lovers over the years. While the duo’s clever songwriting is nearly impossible to “copy” (making it somewhat hard to truly judge their lasting musical influence), the freedom and joyous sense of adventure in their impeccably crafted songs have no doubt inspired a multitude of music makers.

TMBG has been working on converting future generations — not only does the band’s music live on in movie and TV land (the group has done the themes to cartoons like Higglytown Heroes and performs the Bob Mould-written Daily Show theme song), but they’re basically The Beatles of children’s music, dropping a handful of well-received kids albums since 2002’s No! They Might Be Giants are so popular with the diaper-set, their grown-up show at Madison Theater (730 Madison Ave., Covington) Sunday night with guests Vandaveer (promoting TMBG’s forthcoming 16th album, Nanobots) comes with this warning on the Madison’s website ( madisontheateronline.com ): “This show is ages 14+; NOTE: No one under 14 will be admitted to the show, even when accompanied by a parent or guardian.” So leave the tykes at home and find your inner child with TMBG this weekend. $23 in advance; $25 at the door. Sunday, March 3.
