Well, it’s time to dust off that old 10-speed and throw on your peddlin’ shoes — the Madeira Centennial Criterium Bike Race is upon us. The only criterion for the criterium is to own a bike, so everyone from pro riders to those with training wheels are welcome to ride.
The one-mile course weaves around the streets of Madeira and includes two 180-degree turns. Cash and prizes are available for the winners of each heat. Pre-race day registration is recommended. Along with the race, there will be live music and local grub — because nothing goes better with strenuous bike riding than festival food. Races begin at 4:30 p.m.
INFO: Friday, June 29. Laurel and Miami avenues, downtown Madeira. madeira.bikeclicks.com .
