If you're throwing a Halloween party this year, impress your guests with these creative and ghoulish drinks to get everyone into a spooky spirit:
Black Martini - For those who want to host a classy cocktail party for Halloween, serve a drink with Halloween's signature color by offering a black martini. It will add a little mystery to the atmosphere. About.com suggests using a normal martini recipe, but use a black vodka like Blavod .
Brain Hemorrhage - If you want to offer shots instead of cocktails, the brain hemorrhage will be sure to get a reaction out of your guest, and might make some feel a bit queasy. TangoPango's Flickr page describes the shot as looking "ghastly," but tasting "wonderful." The hemorrhage effect is caused by Baileys being dropped in the Peach Schnapps along with some grenadine.
Bloody Rum Punch - Punch is always an easy drink to serve your guests, especially when expecting a large number. You don't have to worry about mixing drinks for everyone because it's already done. About.com describes the punch as Sangria that happens to have a blood red color. Mix wine, rum, triple sec, lime juice and simple syrup and let the flavors meld for a couple hours before serving. Decorate the punch bowl with creepy crawly items to add to the Halloween look.
Lime Chillers With Blood Drippings - Having a small party will give you the opportunity to impress your guests with the lime chiller that has the added touch of blood drippings. Squidoo.com suggests serving this non-alcoholic drink in wine goblets. Dip your goblet in corn syrup that has been dyed red. When you tip the goblet back over after dipping them, the red corn syrup will drip down resembling blood. Then fill your goblet with a mixture of ginger ale, limeade and pineapple juice.
Peanut Butter Cup - Although it's not a spooky drink, the peanut butter cup cocktail evokes memories of childhood when you ran home with your bag full of candy, described Madison.com . Just look at this drink as an ode to your youth, and sip on this adult "candy." The peanut butter cup is a martini style drink composed of vodka, hazelnut liqueur, Godiva liqueur and a splash of milk. Garnish with a Reese's peanut butter cup and voila!
Blood-Red Hot Chocolate - Living in the north, you can pretty much bet on Halloween being a cold night. What better way to warm up while sticking with the Halloween theme than sipping on some blood-red hot chocolate as featured on Martha Stewart.com . The recipe says to melt down semisweet and bittersweet chocolate with milk and sugar. Whisk in some red gel-paste food coloring until combined and serve bone-shaped marshmallows alongside.
