CINCINNATI - Good news for waffle-loving gamblers: Taste of Belgium waffles will be available at Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati’s buffet.
Taste of Belgium Owner Jean-Francois Flechet said he has a contract with the casino to serve his signature Belgian waffles at the buffet. He’s provided the casino with eight waffle irons, he said, and will be providing training soon.
A casino spokeswoman wouldn’t confirm any details about the waffle deal but said via email that “a host of local foods will be incorporate into our food and beverage offerings.” She said a full list would be issued soon.
Flechet said Taste of Belgium has developed a smaller waffle to be served at the casino – about half the size of those he serves at his location in Findlay Market and his Belgian Bistro in Over-the-Rhine.
“If all goes well, it could open other doors with other Caesars properties,” he said. “I’m really excited about it.”
The casino deal marks the latest expansion for Flechet.
He also is planning to open a waffle stand location at Friendly Market of Northern Kentucky in Florence in May. And he’s working on another bistro location on Short Vine in Clifton.
That location should be open no later than the second week of August, he said. Flechet is working with Cincinnati-based SoMoLend to raise money to finance the Clifton project. That fundraising is scheduled to begin March 11.
The new 400,000-square-foot Horseshoe Casino , in downtown Cincinnati, is scheduled to open to the public March 4. It’s unclear whether Taste of Belgium waffles will be available opening day.
