Nestle Purina is voluntarily recalling cat food that was sent to stores in a dozen Midwest states. The company says they may be contaminated with salmonella.
It's recalling 3-1/2 and 7-pound bags of Purina One Vibrant Maturity Seven-Plus Dry Cat. The cat food was produced over two days at a plant in Davenport, Iowa in 2010. Affected bags have a "Best by" date of May 2012.
The company says the Food and Drug Administration alerted them to the contamination.
Recalled states include: California, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.
