MILAN, Ind. - The death of an elderly Ripley County woman who was found dead in her home Dec. 30 has been ruled a homicide.
An autopsy was performed Monday on Nancy Hershman, 68, the victim in an ongoing death investigation in Milan, Ind.
Although the Ripley County Coroner’s Office ruled the incident a homicide, investigators are not releasing any details about how Hershman was killed.
Milan police responded to Hershman’s home at 607 W. Ellis St. at about 1 a.m. Sunday after receiving a telephone call from one of Hershman’s family members. Upon their arrival, police discovered Hershman was dead.
Investigators also are requesting assistance from the public.
Anyone who may live in the area near the scene or who may have been driving through the area between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. Sunday and saw any suspicious vehicles, anyone walking in the area or any suspicious activity is urged to contact the Indiana State Police, Versailles Post, at (812) 689-5000 or (800) 566-6704.
