CINCINNATI - Cincinnati residents can expect curbside recycling prices to stay competitively low after a new high tech recycling facility opens in St. Bernard.
After losing their previous recycling plant to a fire in April, Ohio's largest residential recycling company, Rumpke, announced plans to build a new $32 million recycling facility.
The project will create one of the largest and most technologically advanced residential recycling systems in the United States, capable of sorting 55 tons of material every hour, more than doubling the capabilities of the previous system. The operation will also expand commercial glass recycling opportunities for major generators such as bars and restaurants.
The new recycling facility will serve 4.5 million residents in Cincinnati and beyond. Rumpke expects the site to be up and running by late fall.
