A man who allegedly shot a police officer in the foot last week will be extradited back to the county where he committed the crime.
Pharo Wilson appeared in court via webcam Tuesday morning after his arrest last Friday at a motel in Colerain Township. Wilson allegedly shot Covington police officer Michael Richardson at the City Heights apartment complex in Covington.
Covington police and surrounding law enforcement agencies including a SWAT team conducted a day long manhunt for Wilson after police say he escaped the scene. Police Chief Spike Jones says officers were called to the scene of a robbery on the 2200 block of Todd Court. While police were searching for the suspect at the City Heights housing project when Wilson opened fire from the second floor of an apartment unit. The 26-year-old already has a criminal record including drug trafficking and parole violation.
Officer Shibi with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said Wilson signed a waiver agreeing to the extradition. Magistrate Judge Michael L. Bachman agreed to the waiver and Kenton County officials have 10 days to transfer Wilson into their custody. Until then he remains behind bars at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
