Thousands lose power in the Tri-State

WEST CHESTER, Ohio - More than 1,000 Duke Energy customers are in the dark Wednesday morning after winter weather hit the area Tuesday evening.

A majority of the outages are in Butler County, which has more than 600 customers without power as of 11:30 a.m. There are also a large number of outages in Warren County and Grant County in Kentucky.

At one point more than 6,700 residents were in the dark with the majority living in Boone and Campbell counties in Northern Kentucky, according to the Duke Energy website .

About 3,000 customers lost power in Hamilton County Tuesday evening, but the majority of those outages have been restored.

A Winter Storm Warning was issued until Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Tri-State due to the forecast of winter weather conditions and accumulations of 6"-8" of snow in the northern counties of the Tri-State by Wednesday afternoon.
