CINCINNATI - Summer is almost over and you can be part of the biggest celebration in the Tri-State. This weekend marks the return of P&G's annual Riverfest which hosts one of the largest fireworks displays in the Midwest.
For more than 30 years, WEBN has provided the soundtrack for the event which is choreographed with Rozzi's Famous Fireworks that more than half a million people on both sides of the river enjoy every Labor Day.
Newport will offer two new wrinkles to this year's celebration. Drivers can tune in to 87.7 on their FM dial to listen to street and traffic information. In addition, drivers looking to make a faster exit out of Newport will be able to take the Taylor-Southgate bridge. Newport instructed Rozzi's Famous Fireworks to leave one lane open during and after the show.
Sawyer Point will also be home to an all day party that includes music, food and entertainment that's fun for the whole family.
Chief Meteorologist Steve Raleigh says the Tri-State is in for a rainy holiday weekend as the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac moves in to the region. For the latest weather updates and forecast visit http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/weather/forecast/todays_forecast/Your-Latest-Forecast .
