CINCINNATI - The Salvation Army will kick off its annual Red Kettle Campaign with a fun-filled event on Fountain Square Wednesday at noon. The event will be emceed by 9 News Meteorologist Sarah Walters.
The organization will distribute free ‘mini-bells’ to all guests, who will be invited to participate in a group bell-ringing to officially launch the Kettle Campaign.
The first 500 guests will get a free Cheese Coney from Gold Star Chili. Also, the Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services will serve free beverages from a canteen truck.
Special guests include representatives from The Kroger Co., Duke Energy, Gold Star Chili, the Cincinnati Bengals and members of the Ben-Gals cheerleading squad.
The Salvation Army’s annual campaign is a major source of funding for local programs that serve those most in need in our community. This year’s campaign has a goal of $700,000, which officials said is especially needed this year due to high unemployment and thousands of local families seeking emergency assistance.
Besides contributions to the iconic red kettles, the Salvation Army seeks volunteers that are willing to ring the bells at the kettles this Christmas season.
