VERONA, Ky. - Kentucky State Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after a Verona couple was found dead inside their home Wednesday morning.

Gallatin County dispatch received a call about a shooting at a home in the 100 block of Wanda Court around 10:40 a.m. When troopers arrived, they found April Turner, 35, dead inside the home. Her husband, Michael Turner, 37, was also found in the home with a gunshot wound.

April was living somewhere else and returned to the home Tuesday evening. Investigators believe Michael shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.

The couple's three children, 14, 13 and 8, were outside the home at the time of the shooting and are currently with Gallatin County Social Services.

Police had been called to the home in the past.

Neighbors say the couple was often heard fighting.

"We kind of got used to it because they fought a lot, we've heard screaming and stuff out there, so we just kind of really didn't pay any attention to it," said John Six, a neighbor of the victim.

The shooting remains under investigation.
