WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. - Kentucky State police have arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery and carjacking that took place in Grant County.
State police report they arrested David Hager, 24, of Bourbon County late Wednesday evening in connection with the armed robbery of a drugstore and carjacking that took place earlier that day in Grant County.
The arrest came after police received a call regarding a suspicious person at Cordova Road and US 25 in southern Grant County. Police say they located Hager in the 1500 block of Cordova Road and subsequently took him into custody.
The Kentucky State Police initially received a call Wednesday afternoon at 12:32 p.m. notifying them an armed robbery had taken place at the Grant County Drugs store located on Barnes Road.
According to police, a man wearing two bandanas and a hooded sweatshirt walked into the pharmacy brandishing a handgun and demanded prescription pills. The man was given the pills he requested and left the store without incident, police say.
The subject got into a reportedly stolen tan Oldsmobile Bravada van and traveled west on Barnes Road toward the interstate. Police located the vehicle in the 2000 block of Barnes Road a short time later.
Police believe the suspect forced his way into the van used to commit the crime and demanded the female driver of the vehicle to drive him around for about ten minutes before demanding the woman exit the vehicle on Industrial Road. Police say the suspect then drove back to the pharmacy to commit the robbery.
No one is believed to have been injured as a result of either of the incidents.
Hager has been charged with kidnapping, first degree robbery and theft by unlawful taking of an automobile.
Hager is currently in custody and lodged at the Grant County Detention Center.
The case remains under investigation.
