CINCINNATI - Cincinnati State is encouraging its students to ride public transportation.

The college has teamed up with Metro buses to offer a discount card program. Participating students will only have to pay $1 dollar to ride on any route. Regular fares range from $1.75 to $4.25. Students will also have to pay $.50 transfer fee.

The discount card will be subsidized by Cincinnati State. The college hopes the program will help cut down on traffic congestion, free up parking around campus and reduce transportation costs for students.

Terry Garcia Crews, Metro CEO, sees this as a great opportunity to gain future bus riders.

"With this program, Metro can introduce Cincinnati State students to public transportation. We hope to foster habits that will serve the community by reducing traffic congestion and create Metro riders well beyond graduation," Crews said. "Riding Metro will help students reduce their commuting costs and give them a little last-minute study time on the bus."
